A CT article came across the Archives' doorstep the other day...called the Case for Early Marriage. It also had enclosed 3 responses. I'm just posting it because it really interested me...and caused my inner pastor to flare up.
So I guess I just wanna know what any of you who still read this (6 months after my last post) might think about it? Let me know!

my Lenten trials...
Here's my recounting of what happened the day after Ash Wednesday:
So, I walk in this morning and there's no less than 3 kinds of girl scout cookies tantalizing me with their sweet goodness at the coffee cabinet right by my desk! So I go over to heat up my turkey sausages in the mail room and there are brownies on Jean's desk and then more Girl Scout cookies in the mail room right next to a scrumptious looking cheese danish! What the @()$&A@#(%&? Honestly, I've never seen so many sweet morsels in our offices...EVER.
So, I groan and a co-worker hears me groan and says, "Yeah, I know but you should definitely try the girl scout cookies- they have this yummy lemon on the bottom..."on and on. And I said, "Does no one around here celebrate Lent?!" And she said, "You're not Catholic..." sort of incredulously and then added tentatively, "...are you?" I said, "No I'm Anglican". Not that that is really the reason why I celebrate Lent either. But I was surprised and dismayed at the ignorance of my co-workers and everyone's disregard or ignorance to put it more positively for the Lenten season. I honestly can't imagine my life without the fellowship's seasonal calendar. How odd. So I'm praying for grace and not being judgmental...and thanking the Father that I made it through the schmorgasborg of tempting treats obstacle course this morning--I guess it really does build hope--what do ya know?
So there ya go, there's the full version story of my google away message that made you laugh :)
It's hard bein' female, lower middle class and anglican :P...

my so-called life
Do you remember that show? Ha! Anyway, my post isn't about the show. I just thought that perhaps it's time for me to just put down sorta what I do in my day, what I've been working on, etc.
Really that just means putting in links so that you can go see for yourself! :)
Now, these aren't all really CG but maybe if you just visit once it won't matter? I don't really know but given the place where I work it's hard to share and for the site to be completely CG ya know?
But maybe the other 2 of you who read this wanna go take a look :P
So, our BGC Archives Annual Report says a lot about what we do and how I spend my time during the year...you can also go to Year in Pics to just see pictures of where I work and how I spent my year on the job. One of the pictures is of a "Survival Guide" page I made for Freshman--there's a link to the actual page at YiP.
I also designed this promotional piece for our 1st ever BGC Archives Lecture which we are continuing this next year as well...so be looking forward to that! But don't hold your breath too much...
It's hard to show all of the other things I do but if you browse around the site you'll be able to find some transcripts and things. I really like the Bulletin Board pages...(my colleagues design those) they give cool stories and info without it being an overwhelming amount of information.
Hope you enjoy the glimpse into my life!

you are butt dust...
This is a quote from my husband...and yes he definitely meant "butt" as a twist on the liturgy of today. Now, I know it's a somber day and all and that we should take it seriously. But, this really did make my morning and has made me laugh several times since. And yes, we are going to get ashed at noon and Greg said to me, "Don't giggle when they put the ashes on you!" Can you imagine? Aaaaaaaw-ful. Trying to explain to Karen that I just couldn't help but thinking I'm butt dust and that I just get all tickled inside thinking about how I'm ashes? Oh no. Well, if I'm smited, you'll at least all know why :) All four of you.
I should be working, but for some reason Library of Congress subject headings just aren't getting my goat. Anyway, trying to think of something profound to say on Ash Wednesday. Nothing's coming to me. Well, I have always wanted to get a phoenix tattoo...like one being reborn from the ash. But, I've always thought it's probably a lot of money and I'd want it to be beautiful and big. Perhaps I'll start a body art fund. But, I love the idea that we are ash and then of course, of resurr ection...not sure if that's a cg word or not, so I'll break it up just in case ;) I know this day is not the day to keep R-tion in mind necessarily but I'm an idealist. We're also in a Chri---logy class right now and so we're learning all about the Son and I can't help then but to meditate on all things pertaining to Him and life, and one big thing supported by the overwhelming evidence of the Writings is R-tion. That He rose is intrinsically linked with who we are in Him and who we will be throughout eternity. How cool. And the Triuneness decided on that to be our glory--us, who are but ash.
Processing collections is calling my name, have a good day of remembrance.

newness
So, what's new? You probably want to know. Well, since I always feel the need to have pictures I actually took some so I could explain.
On February 5th, Greg had an interview with Starbucks District Managers to see if he was fit for a store yet. 13 months in an 8 month program I would say taught him far more than needed and also needless to say but I'm saying it anyway, he was ready to move up and get his own store. His interview ended at about 11:45 he was called around 12:05 to be told that he's "unofficially" moving up but that his DM had to call everyone else effected and inform them. Around 12:45, he received another call officially offering him Woodfield II! So now he's a big ol' boss man and here's his store!

there's the manager!

ah yes, the Xmas spirit...
So, on my way to work this morning, I slowed to a stop at an intersection where apparently there had been a biker cycling across. He was in my blind spot at first but I was slowing to a stop anyway...but apparently not fast enough for him. Apparently, he thought I was just going to hit him instead of stop. So, he yelled "F*$% off!"...well, mouthed, I couldn't actually HEAR him...and then sped off to cut through the Wheaton campus. I thought he was an employee which sent me in to shock. But then I honked and drove off to work. I hope that man has a better Holiday than Holiday Eve, seems like he needs it. I mean I guess he was biking (with no hat or helmet mind you) through the snow that's been falling for like 4 hours and through fatty, wet 4 inch thick snow. My day wouldn't be that great either, I guess.
But, yeah, that just got me thinkin' about the good ol' Xmas spirit. We watched "Muppet christmas Carol" last night...always good for a laugh and some good reminders about not being a Scrooge. We're looking forward to it in the Collins-Pfeifer household personally. I forgot to bring my camera to download pics of Xmas at Michael Court...but that will come soon, I hope.
Hooray for only 3 more hours of work. I am keeping you all in my last day of Advent thoughts and hoping that you will be surrounded in Light tomorrow as you celebrate. Merry Holiday to all and to all a Merry Holiday!!!

Falltumn
Well, I said I wouldn't post more or about things for which I'm thankful. Well, I'll pretend I'm not thankful for the following or for the great season of Falltumn, which is drawing to a close rapidly in 20 degree Chicagoland. So, here's a tribute (in combo with general things I love):

Dad and I on the long walk to my doom...jokes!
the cute old people neighbors by my old house

shouldn't be allowed to exist, but oh, it does.
dancin' with the sister and the bro at the wedding

an Alabama autumn
a little too much fun with the stamps...miss you, MJ!

the cutest baby ever, my nephew, Ethan, who loves his toes...he makes an aunt so proud!
